  place children with special health and development needs at risk for malt
 reatment\; barriers and challenges faced when investigating allegations of
  abuse and neglect of special needs children\; recommended communication a
 nd interaction strategies based on the child’s underlying diagnoses\; and 
 recommendations that support prevention of maltreatment for this very vuln
 erable population.
