l Fundraising Breakfast in support of the CASA/GAL Program of Summit Count
y\, at Firestone Country Club on October 24\, 2024. This year the keynote
speaker\, sponsored by State and Federal Communications\, is former NFL pl
ayer and foster care child himself\, Gaelin Elmore. He now shares his mess
 age as a dynamic and nationally sought-after keynote speaker\, trainer\, a
nd thought leader.\n\nGaelin works with organizations and people to become
belonging-informed in order to help children overcome trauma and unleash
their potential. Gaelin's passion and energy for his work stems from his h
eart for justice and his own lived experience. His own “belonging journey”
has led Gaelin to the National Football League\, and now stages\, board r
ooms\, and organizations\, all across the country\, aiming to inspire\, en
courage\, and equip others to think differently about their work and its l
ong-term impact on others.\n\nIn 1993\, the CASA Board Volunteer Associati
on\, Inc. was established to further the mission and support the work of t
he CASA/GAL Program of Summit County. The Board partners with the Program
by raising and administering funds for enhanced programming\, personnel su
pport\, promoting public awareness of the Court Appoint Special Advocate/G
uardian ad Litem Program\, and recognizing the efforts of CASA’s heroic vo
lunteers.\n\nIn an effort to guarantee the on-going success of the program
\, the CASA Board works to continually generate awareness of the plight of
abused and neglected children. They work to cultivate strong partnerships
with individuals and organizations committed to bettering children's live
s.\n\nThe mission of the CASA/GAL Program is to provide every child who en
ters the juvenile court system as a result of allegations of abuse\, negle
ct\, or dependency with a trained community volunteer to advocate for what
is in the best interest of the child. \n\nWithout intervention\, the odds
are stacked against children in foster care. A child with a CASA/GAL volu
nteer spends 20 percent less time in foster care\, on average\, compared t
 o a child without a CASA/GAL volunteer. Studies show children with a CASA/
GAL volunteer receive more services that are critical to their well-being
and are four times more likely to find a permanent home. \n\nThe CASA Boa
