12th Annual CASA Breakfast Fundraiser benefitting the CASA/GAL Program of Summit County

The CASA Board Volunteer Association is hosting the 12th Annual Fundraising Breakfast in support of the CASA/GAL Program of Summit County, at Firestone Country Club on October 24, 2024. This year the keynote speaker, sponsored by State and Federal Communications, is former NFL player and foster care child himself, Gaelin Elmore. He now shares his message as a dynamic and nationally sought-after keynote speaker, trainer, and thought leader.

Gaelin works with organizations and people to become belonging-informed in order to help children overcome trauma and unleash their potential. Gaelin's passion and energy for his work stems from his heart for justice and his own lived experience. His own “belonging journey” has led Gaelin to the National Football League, and now stages, board rooms, and organizations, all across the country, aiming to inspire, encourage, and equip others to think differently about their work and its long-term impact on others.

In 1993, the CASA Board Volunteer Association, Inc. was established to further the mission and support the work of the CASA/GAL Program of Summit County. The Board partners with the Program by raising and administering funds for enhanced programming, personnel support, promoting public awareness of the Court Appoint Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem Program, and recognizing the efforts of CASA’s heroic volunteers.

In an effort to guarantee the on-going success of the program, the CASA Board works to continually generate awareness of the plight of abused and neglected children. They work to cultivate strong partnerships with individuals and organizations committed to bettering children's lives.

The mission of the CASA/GAL Program is to provide every child who enters the juvenile court system as a result of allegations of abuse, neglect, or dependency with a trained community volunteer to advocate for what is in the best interest of the child.

Without intervention, the odds are stacked against children in foster care. A child with a CASA/GAL volunteer spends 20 percent less time in foster care, on average, compared to a child without a CASA/GAL volunteer. Studies show children with a CASA/GAL volunteer receive more services that are critical to their well-being and are four times more likely to find a permanent home.

The CASA Board Volunteer Association is hosting the 12th Annual Fundraising Breakfast on October 24, 2024, from 7:30 am to 9am at Firestone Country Club in Akron; the presenting sponsor is Brennan Manna Diamond (BMD).
