In-Service Training: Healthy Sexual Development of Children and Teens
Through a grant from the Women’s Endowment Fund of the Akron Community Foundation, the CASA Program is very excited to announce our first in-person training since the pandemic. “Healthy Sexual Development of Children and Teens” will be presented by Ronna Johnson, RN, CPNP.
This training introduces basic concepts of sexual development and the Johnson continuum of childhood sexual behavior. Normal sexual behaviors for children from birth to adolescence are outlined along with factors which may influence a child's sexual behaviors. The training will help CASA Volunteers know when a child's sexual expression is normative and developmentally appropriate.
The CASA Program will also have “RedDrop’s Period Kit’s” available to CASA volunteers who are serving tweens (females between ages 8 and 12 years.) RedDrop Period Kits include various sizes of pads, a discreet cloth Code Red Kit bag packed with the essentials (ideal to drop in a purse, backpack, or gym bag). RedDrop’s convenient individually wrapped wet wipes are chemical and scent free for sensitive skin.
