The mission of the CASA/GAL Program of Summit County is to serve the best interests of abused and neglected children in the Juvenile Court System. CASA/GAL volunteers provide quality advocacy for children so that every child can be safe, have a permanent home and the opportunity to thrive.
The vision of the CASA/GAL Program of Summit County is to provide advocacy, consistency, and quicker routes to successful permanency for all children who have entered juvenile court as a result of abuse or neglect. The CASA/GAL Program of Summit County is committed to the highest quality of advocacy through trained Court Appointed Special Advocates.
CASA/GAL volunteers are ordinary people just like you. They come from all walks of life, just like the children in foster care they help.
A CASA/GAL volunteer gathers information from everyone involved in a child’s daily life, including members of the child’s family, foster parents, teachers, lawyers, social workers and other relevant persons.
Then, they report to a judge to advocate for the child’s best interests.
