The Power of Play: Understanding How Play is Essential to a Child’s Healthy Development presented by Beth Cardina, LSW, Program Coordinator of the CASA/GAL Program of Summit County

Childhood play is the context for children’s development and fundamental to their growth and learning from infancy through adolescence, contributing to their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development (Isenberg & Quisenberry, 2002). For many abused and neglected children this right has been challenged because of exposure to violence, changes in family structure, alcohol and drug abuse, mental illness, and inadequate and unsafe play environments. This training session will address how CASA/GAL volunteers can support and promote play.

At the end of each training you will be able to choose a toy/activity to encourage play with your CASA child/youth.
